The Insider Column
By Lindy Suiter
(August 22, 2007) As Matt Griffin prepares the Racers for
the 2007 football season there’s no overlooking the fact that this is a
very young team. But I know that Griffin and his players expect to win
anyway.
Neal Bradley's Column
By Neal Bradley
(August 22, 2007) Last year’s edition of the Racer football team
was undermanned to begin the season, with only 24 juniors and seniors
combined. So with that total down to 13 juniors and seniors this season,
how can they possibly be expected to improve on last year’s 1-10 slate?
Murray-Louisville Game
Preview
By Will Aubrey
(August 22, 2007) Over the years Murray State has played a number
of talented IA opponents. Wisconsin, Brigham Young, Minnesota and
Mississippi come to mind. They even played Louisville in 1990, the year
the Cardinals crushed Alabama in the Fiesta Bowl.
Racer Football Preview
By Will Aubrey
(August 22, 2007) When Matt Griffin took over as head football
coach at Murray State the program was at its lowest ebb since the early
90’s. Back then MSU hired Houston Nutt to rebuild the team and he
succeeded beyond everyone’s expectations. Even so he didn’t post a
winning record until his third year.
OVC Football Preview
By Will Aubrey
(August 22, 2007) Over the last seven years Eastern Illinois and
Jacksonville State have dominated Ohio Valley Conference football as the
Panthers or Gamecocks have won the title outright or shared it every
single year.

By Will Aubrey
(August 22, 2007) As another season of Racer athletics gets

ahead.
Q&A with Billy Kennedy
By Will Aubrey
(August 22, 2007) In his first year as head basketball coach at
Murray State University Billy Kennedy led the Racers to a 16-14 record
and a tie for second in the Ohio Valley Conference. With practice
starting in less than two months we took the opportunity to sit down
with him and talk about the season ahead.
Volleyball Preview
By Will Aubrey
(August 22, 2007) Last year Murray State's volleyball team was one
of the most improved in the entire country as they went from seven wins
in 2005 to 19 in 2006. Their 11 wins in Ohio Valley Conference play led
to a third place finish, their best since 2003.
Soccer Preview
By Will Aubrey
(August 22, 2007) The Murray State University women's soccer team
staggered out of the gate last year, losing their first three games by a
combined score of 8-0. Since they were coming off of the best season in
the program's history that kind of a start was shocking. But with a new
head coach and a new offense perhaps it shouldn’t have been.
